Starlings are in fact black in color but are not actually Blackbirds--
the blackbird family consists of brown headed cowbirds, common grackles,
red winged blackbirds,yellow-headed blackbirds,brewers blackbirds and
rusty blackbirds.
it's kinda like calling a butternut squash or a yellow crookneck a
pumpkin as they are both squash and are cream to yellow in color.
