Hi List
Here is my first update for 2002 I have the patch set up with mound # 1 being the most complete and fortified. This year I have 4 air tubes in it and the whole was dug to 16 feet by 3 3/4 by 6 feet wide but instead of backfilling the hole I caved in the sides and rototillered every 4 to 6 inches evenly mixing compost, vermiculite and shellflower/gypsum. So here is the update..
Mound # 1 The 611 Hester 99 (900.8 Lyons X 737 Stellpflug) is in as of yesterday. Small dark green Dicots with first true leaf clearly visible. Seems to be doing fine even though the dicots are so contorted they actually fold evenly back on them selves so that there is no under side of the dicots visible.
Mound # 2 the mound is ready and the 900.8 Lyons 94 (724 Willemese 93 X 755 Cravens93) is ready to go. Small dicots about 3/4 of an inch long but it has only been open for 12 hours. Will put it in tomorrow as the first true leaf is visible.
Mound # 3 I have six of my 758 Smith (986 Hester X 723 Bobier) seeds going at variable days old and different leaf stages. These will be the primary seeds for my 3 rd mound and backups for the other mounds.
Kinda have a 900.8 Lyons theme going on not only am I growing a 900.8 Lyons BUT both the female pumpkins on the other two seeds are full 900.8 Lyons Just worked out that way I am not too sure why I had plenty of great seeds I just chose each of these plants on there own merit. Depending on what Bob Troy grows I should have INCREDIBLE CROSSES THIS YEAR. Including a 723 Bobier and an 801 Stelts this will be killer if we get everything going !!!
I also have two 654 Troy seeds germinating one for a friend of mine at work who wants to grow and one for a cousin of mine. Or I might use one depending on how they come out !! we will see.
Last year I ruined some premo seeds by not being good enough to germinate them but this year I am 100% including 26 hours on the 900.8 Lyons and no other seed took more than 41 hours. Want to know my trick just ask for me it is WAY TOO EASY !! thing was I was trying too hard !!!! Well, I will keep you all informed as the season progresses !!!! Take care and grow em BIG.....
