Size and genetics
I'm reminded of my Psych teacher pointing out some pictures of plants germinating in different types of soil; within a patch, there was a range - some were bigger, some were smaller, but the general size within the patch was more uniform than, say, comparing 'the largest' from all the patches.
Her conclusion (and it still makes sense to me) is that genetics will give you a range; enviroment will determine where in that range you will actually fall.
So thanks from someone new to all this for all the information on PH, and fertilizer and such.
