I had a baby painted turtle I rescued from the roto tiller 2 years ago, It has been a family pet ever since. I have a beautiful tank for it with a land and water area but I have to keep getting new plants because the turtle eats them all. This cant be a good thing for a garden..

I would consider it a 'good - luck' omen. It may be a female who has made a nest or it may be a 'baby turtle' who came from a nest. I had a bunch of baby turtles which came from a nest right on the edge of my lawn a few years ago, they hatched and moved on quickly.
