I have had several turtles lay their eggs in my garden. The come in and love the fresh roto tilled ground. They back up, make a hole and leave. I don't think I have ever had damage from turtles in the 17 years I have been growing pumpkins.
Good luck with you turtle.
I was always taught, plant one third of you garden for the effects of weather, plant the next third for nature,
and hope you get the last third for you.
I have never yelled at a turtle to let loose of my pumkin vine.
On the other hand, I can't tell you how many deer and I that have had words.
Good Luck
Bill
