It seems early to me but in a patch of my friend
and fellow PGPGA grower we spotted a mass of cucumber beetles that started this
past weekend. I thought they arrived around the middle of June last
year. I guess this weather has everything off schedule. We had put
in a Rose 960, Papez 1020 and Emmons 1262 along with my 660 and 797 and a Hester
895. They got hit with a bit of frost last week and now the beetles have
arrived. This surely is a fragile hobby. I think it was the
perfect year for me to put up my new hoop houses. The 1061 Ciliberto
and the 845 Nesbitt are looking fine. Best wishes to all for a memorable
2002 season.
