Well, I'm no expert but I was 9 for 9 this year, and 100% last year as well...
You've got to get the heat to the seed. I would think that your heat source
would need to be underneath and around your pots. If you have a thermometer
stick it right in the pot and see what it is.
What I use is a "heating pad" that can be plugged into an outlet. The pots go
right on this with a thin piece of plastic all around the pots to hold heat in.
Also, one suggestion that most experts give is that your soil should be moist
but not wet.
At this point, you might want to carefully pull back the soil around a seed and
very tenderly see what is going on. I think if you get some heat in there they'll
still come up.
This process is somewhat of an "art", as opposed to a science (at least for us
who don't really know all the science). If nothing comes up in 3 to 5 days,
something is likely wrong. Keep at it, practice, and by all means get that soil
temperature up!
Regards, Cliff

Newbie from Iowa here:
9 days ago I filed 6 seeds, soaked them in a weak solution of Miracle Grow
for 5 hours, then planted them in peat pots with planting mix. They have
been under a lamp (single 60 watt bulb) for 9 days now and still NOTHING.
Do I start all over, I have 6 more seeds. They aren't as potentially good as
the first six (according to what I have read), but it seems to me I should
see some action by now.
All assistance appreciated!
