RE: HELP!

When you say, "The pots go right on this with a thin piece of plastic all
around the pots to hold heat in." Do you mean like "cellophane wrap"
Yeah, its essentially cellophane wrap, but I didn't describe this too well.
What I really have is a clear plastic lid from one of those kits that one can
buy to start their own tomato seeds, this is the base. Then I stretch a piece
of cellophane over the peat pots, which are inside the upside down "lid".
This is all atop the heating pad, and under a flourescent light. Technically
the light isn't needed until the plant emerges, but I like to have it available
as soon as the seedling starts rising through the soil.

The cellophane over the top helps hold heat in. Heat is a major key in
this process.

As for a thermometer, any will do as long as it has a range arond 85 degrees.
I'm not sure a human thermometer will go down that low! (Lets hope not...;-)
I think a thermometer is a good idea, but actually I just fiddle with the temp
control on the heating pad. I turn it up, then down to low, then up, etc.
For example, I leave it on low overnight, then turn it up during the day.
I guess this is where the "art" comes in... what can I say, it works for me.

Regards, Cliff
