RE: hydroponics and giant pumpkins

I buy 55 gallon plastic drums from a lumber yard already washed (they
originally had the stuff dairy farms use to clean/sanitize the milking
machines I think.) They go for around $5.99 for 55 gal & I think $3.99
for 35-39 gal. I've grown everything from tomatillos to potatoes in
them, the barrels whole, halved or thirds. I even use other colored
barrels from the same place, black, royal blue, etc, they make cheap
planters & I've never had any problems with them (no health problems, no
growing problems, no off-taste problems, etc.) Where can you buy a 1/2
whiskey barrel for $2.50?

well i did some reasearch im trying this too the thing im using is a
55gallon
drum with a half a 55gallon drum on top the pumpkins wont be in water
just
the roots and there will be a pump recycling the water onfrom the
bottom and
flowing it threw the roots and rocks in the top container also the
roots
will go into the bottom container as well which will be underground the

containers must be food grade plastic though i just ordered a 723
bobier 99
offsping seed from p&p to try this out with i still need to find the
supplies but i'll keep you all posted and send pics of my setup to
anyone
interested when its complete
