Sevin
I have used Sevin for quite some time on my pumpkins. I read somewhere that it is used by some apple growers to reduce the number of blossums on a tree that become actual apples. This way they get fewer but larger apples. I have had problems some years with female pumpkin blossums dying rather than forming pumpkins after I pollinated them. Does anyone think that the use of Sevin as a pesticide on my pumpkins just might be contributing to this? I have started to use Sevin later in the season now, after I have some pumpkins going, as it is an effective pesticide against most everything except spider mites. It actually enhances the growth of spider mites in my patch and so I intermittently apply some Malathion which seems to eliminate them.
