Kathie,
Water will puddle on linoleum and this can cause rot problems on the
underside of your pumpkin. I think a weed mat or weed net that landscapers
use works well beneath the pumpkin.......use the type that water passes through.
A 3'x3' or 4'x4' piece under your pumpkin will keep it clean and dry and
weed free.
