I I don't think it would matter much so long as it wasn't a dominant gene
that made the pumpkin small. Think of it in human terms. Can a 6' 6" person
arise from parents that are only 4 feet tall...yes. So why not the same with
pumpkins.
On the other hand it would be of concern if this was a trait from that gene
pool. It would mean there is a low weight pumpkin gene in that Hypo pumpkin.
It would take several years to breed out that gene but it also might be
worth while if you can get 1000+ lbs pumpkins from the Hypo pumpkin.
