Wayne:
I hear what you are saying and I know you are right. I am growing 8 plants in
my quest for a big one. I am trying to get over the 700 pound mark this year.
Amoung those 8 plants will be a Zehr 1061. Who knows what will be the result?
I doubt I am the only one trying it. If guys like me don't try it, other guys
like you will never know how it did.
Also I have two other plants, a Greer 1006 and a Zehr 1061 which I plan on
growing together at my house in less than full sun for seed purposes only.
The other plants are on a farm nearby. where there is full sun and a pond of
water. If I can successfully cross the 1006 and 1061, I think I will have an
interesting seed. With the genetics of the Atlantic Giant being as screwed up
as they are, who can preidct what exactly will happen. About the only thing
you can say with certainty is that I won't get a tomato.
I am also growing a Hackney 603 and one seed that may really be a dark horse,
A Kaye 270. The Kaye 270 had a Zehr 963 and an Orr 887 as parents. Any
predictions on this one?
This whole thing is so much fun that I wish I could give up my day job and
just grow pumpkins. I know that you know what I mean. Was that your picture
at a weigh-off with a tuxedo on? Was that you riding around in a pumpkin
boat?
Your posts here have been some of the most educational I have seen. As we
enter the second year you have also been very patient with some of the
"newbys" as they have been calling themselves and as they ask questions you
have already answered in the prior year. I really appreciate and value your
help and please don't even think about going away from the group. Your input
has been extremely valuable. Also if I can get a cross between the Greer 1006
and the Zehr 1061 will you be interested in a seed, free of course?
