Plant stress. Is there any hope?

Plants seem to be just sitting there. I feel I have stressed most of my
plants too much. Started seed in homemade hot house. Germination was
very successful, but plants were not hardened off correctly. They seem
to still be living but just barely. Already planing for next year.
Thinking about building individual cold frames to use for direct
seeding. Does anyone have a good plan drawn up for cold frames used for
this purpose? I feel plants would be better adjusted to real life
conditions by using cold frames. I would like some drawings of small
cold frames that would be inexpensive. I live on the Cumberland Plateau
in Middle Tennessee. We are cooler than most areas around us being on
the plateau. Had killing frost Friday night. Had pumpkins covered with
blankets. Days are getting in the 70's. Hope plants get going soon.
