Growers,
Well the trip to Reno was a huge success. No, I didn't win my million,
but I did win something much more important. My ladyfriend said yes to the
big question. WAHOO!!!!!! We started talking about dates for our wedding,
and when my fingers hit weigh-off day, she smiled and before I said a word,
she gave me a simple and uncontestable "I don't want an orange wedding". She
is right I guess, a pumpkin colored dress wouldn't look so good.
My excitement wasn't hampered when I got home, for the plants have grown
very well. The weather has cooled somewhat, but it hasn't slowed their
growth much.
Site #1- The transplanted #627.5: Doing great. Has put up a nice runner
now about 24 inches long. It is still sticking up in the air, but is finally
starting to lean. The stem is getting thicker and thicker.
Site #2- The #827: Has a yard long main runner now with a foot long second
runner. It is definately giving chase to the 627.5 in site #4. Plant looks
very nice, and healthy.
Site #3- The #850.5: Still a weird looking duck. Has a two foot main
runner whic is at least a double runner. It is a little over 3" thick now.
In 1995 I documented a runner on my #696 Holland which ended up being 27
inches wide and 6 inches thick. This runner on the 850 looks very similar to
how the one in 95 started. The rest of the plant looks normal where new
growth is starting, so I think I will keep it after all.
Site #4- The #627.5: WOW. Largest leaf is 21 "
