Zoo,
You know, a friend and I were just talking about watering. Around these
parts (Central Mass.) 1 inch per week is sufficient for most crops. I will
assume that A.G.s need more (as this is my first serious attempt at growing
one, I'd love for someone to let me know...) As far as technique goes, I
never water at night, and I never water any leaves; powdery mildew would
destroy everything if I did. I'd water with a nice long-spouted can
directly at the base and then all along the buried vine. You might even
make up a nice batch of Zoo-Doo tea to treat them with in thier early
nitrogen hungry stage. (Three toed sloth/wallaby would be tasty for them, I
think).
One more point; I look at my idiot neighbors in awe every morning and
writhe as I see them water thier plants with cold hose water. Especially
this early in the season I recommend using sun warmed rain water; Nothing
like cold hose water to shock the zoo-doo right out of a vine. Hope this
helps...
Ernest
