Hello,
To float pumpkins, I suggest letting them dry out for as long as
possible, so that they lose most of their weight which is 95% water.
To make gourds, people usually let them dry out over the winter. If
you're in a hurry maybe you could leave them out in a dry, sunny
place? Or if you're in an extreme hurry, put a small electric
convection heater inside them. The slower and more gradually you dry
them, the less chance that they'll split.
Cheers,
Enrique
