Update from the Nations capitol:
Rhode Island Champion John Castellucci's plants, 682.4, 733, 743.2 are
all as beautiful as can be with a large third leaf on them all. The
743.2 looks the best but not by much. Eaton's 853 had some curled
starter leaves (my fault) but the third leaf looks good and is right
behind the Castelluccis. Pulled up my Mighty Mable and it is traveling
to Lancaster in the hands of Beth Rado to be planted up there by a
friend. Couldn't waste that lovely lady!
I am practicing on germinating my seeds for next year already. I am
going to use the large transparent deli cantainers to plant in so as to
be able to check the root progress. I believe the roots don't like light
(correct pumkinguy?) so I will use tinfoil around it to block it out. I
was surprised to see roots coming out of the bottom of my opaque pots so
early and when I transplanted some were growing up the sides of the pot
already. I need to know how my roots are looking so I believe this will
be a good solution. It was not even 5 days after they broke ground with
the starter leaves.(4 inch pots) I like small pots and like to
transplant soon but I thought we had a week to 10 days!
Nice to see the Pumpkin Witch at home and doing better. Hello Terry
Lynn!
Talk with you all later. I am taking my watering can home with me to
practice over the weekend.
