On May 1 I planted, with full treatment - filing edges, soaking over
night under plastic, germinating in heated container etc. - some 1997
Wiberg 474 seeds. I had two left over, so, with no special preparation,
I put them in a pot with potting soil and left them outside. The air
temps have been from 50 to 75 degrees.
The treated seeds came up in 72 hours. The untreated ones just came up
today.
So, professor, we conclude that treating seeds with filing, the steam
bath etc. gives a quicker germination by a factor of 4.66... to 1.
I think I am going to put these seeds in a glass container of some kind,
cover the glass with heavy paper, and try to observe the root growth. If
someone has done this already and written the definitive paper, let me
know and it'll save me from a lot of ridicule from friends and
neighbors.
Five plants doing well inspite of the wet weather. Is there sun
anywhere?
