Re: pumpkin preservation question

I wonder if I have the record for the longest lasting pumpkin? A 56
lb. Prizewinner harvested in October 1996, finally put in the compost
bin in March 1998 with a small area of softening on the shell. As I
chopped it up, I noticed that it was otherwise still very solid. Now I
have hundreds of pumpkin seedlings sprouting from this pumpkin in my
compost bin, and they all look healthier than my AGs did! I might just
let one grow there.

Anyway, I did nothing but keep the pumpkin dry in my foyer. No sprays,
special temperatures, dips or anything. My wife was glad to finally see
it "go the way of all flesh", but I sorta miss it...
