PNWGPG Thanks

Just wanted to take a moment to thank the generous members of the PNWGPG for
donating seeds to be shared with the members. Of my 5 successfully
germinated seeds (the Andersen 977 still eludes me) two of my best came as a
gift of membership.

The clear leaders are from the "heavy hitter" LaRue family. Of these two the
strongest plant is from Sherry LaRue's 1997 giant.

While all the plants are just moving to their first true leaf stage, the
stem of the Sherry LaRue plant is visibly nearly twice the diameter of any
other plant.

Both of the LaRue seeds nearly jumped out of their peat pots at about the
same time as I retracted my finger from pushing the seeds into the soil.
Both have been moved up to one gallon pots under grow lights as the soil in
my patch is TOO wet to plant out. I can only hope Oregon will have sun again
in my lifetime and that these seeds will get to produce the babies that will
do their parents proud.

BTW, my Bobier seed from Ray Waterman is kicking soil and moving up fast
from third position.

With a three day weekend ahead of us I look forward to LOTS of pumpkin mail.

Lastly, with all the pages that Duncan produces (there are at least 10-15
that I know of, and as many are about things other than pumpkins as those
about pumpkins.) I think it is about time that he comes out from behind the
CRT and produces a page about himself, complete with picture.
