Pumpkinmaster,
My experience, and everything I have read, says that burying vines,especially
at the points where the leaves grow up, is very good, and nothing bad
happens. They send out roots from the vine. The more roots, the more food get
into the system, etc. etc.
They do not rot, strnage as this may seem.
I recall that I first thought that telling rookies to bury vines was a trick
to eliminate the competition. That was before I knew everyone one this site
was warm, wonderful, honest and brave - most of the time.
