Re: My 1999 Pumpkin plant choices!

Hello Alan,
Nice to see you back!
Both of the 614's have germ., One grew to about 3 leaf and stopped growing
and died. The other grew 4 leaves, planted outside with 1 leaf about 5-6
inches next to the 1092. This 614 also died with the 1092 still growing and
looking very healthy!
The Jones 600, on other mound is growing well with 5 leaves, the largest
about 5-6 inches. My Palumbo, 380 (Ha!) from last year seems to be the
largest of all. Ashame it won't be one of my selections! (This seed was
from P&P 799-899. Do you think after being the second generation and crossed
poll., it has a chance to grow a big one?)
I also restarted the Dur. 2nd place 975x1061, reynolds 1092, and the
reynolds 1092 cull. They have germ. and breaking through!
A Thought! I have asked you a million questions in which you did answer
about all of them. One answer was watch them and tend to their needs. I
was like what the hell does he mean? Well I did! As they were in the 4"
pots, the growing seem to stop, I transplanted into a larger pot with fresh
starting soil and WOW! In 2 days there was significant growth! Very
interesting to see how healthy and large the roots were! My son-in-law did
not do this and his plants stopped growing totally and when I transplanted
for him, the roots sort of curled and did not stand straight up! They were
growing sideways! Strange???
I'm kinda bummed out because the two 614s got the most attention! I wanted
them badly! Bummer!
I can't beleive how many mounds you have! My only two mounds have many
hours of hard work put into it. Someday I would love to see your patches.
It must be awesome! I am also bummed I missed the Rhode Island seed
planting picnic because I was away that week doing software training. Thanks
for asking me!!
Happy to see you back and hope to hear from you!
Your AG friend Tony P.
