Hello fellow list members,
Well the plants are in and the race is on! I have 5 plants in my main
patch (729.16 Hackney, 854 Holland, 937 Mombert, 936.5 Handy, and a
Reynolds cull - parents were 815 Anderson and 935 Lloyd), and 4 at an
alternate site (889 Emmons, 598 Hester, 574 Kopsell and an experiment
from last year). The best so far is the 937 Mombert. 20 days after the
root first poked out of the seed coat the plant has 5 true leaves, the
largest around 9" across. If anyone else is growing any of these seeds,
I'd like to compare notes. I'd also like to know who out there is
growing in Illinois, esp. Northern IL. I'm from Woodridge, IL a suburb
of Chicago. Good luck to all this season, and thanks to everyone who
gave me advice and/or seeds last year.
