Beverly Hills Pumpkin Grower

Howdy, from what is probably the only pumpkin patch in Beverly Hills, CA,
 
I have been growing Burbee Prizewinner pumpkins for several years and average about 100 pounds per pumpkin.  This is the year I want to start growing AG plants and am looking for advice from other Southern California growers on subjects like local area pest control and how they handle the heat and any other helpful information about local growing conditions.  What kind of success have people had growing AG's in our climate, what is their average pumpkin size in our So Calif area?  I'm growing two of the 1,000 pound cross seeds I got from P&P Seeds.  As a first time grower with limited space I would be happy with a little 200 pounder my first year.
