Transplanted 5 AGs under 7ft dome mini-greenhouses on 5/7. Had to use a
backup plant started 5 days after the original starting on 4/27 due to
one not surviving the tx shock (700+ Holland), it wasn't a very vigorous
plant from the start. The plant in the #1 spot is doing the best - the
780 Eaton. It already has 8 leaves and a vine that is just lying down
that is almost as big around as the 1/2" watering hose! The other
plants including the backup plant are also doing well, 3 with 5+
leaves(881 Dill, 815 Checkon & 634 Chrispell) and 1 with 4 leaves(the
backup- another 780 Eaton). Also started a handful of plants for my
brother-in-law (we have a $20 wager on who grows the largest, beat him
by 17lbs last year). He plans on planting 5 also. His included 2 of
the Reynold's seeds, a 700+Holland, a 695 Mellott and a 819 Stephenson.
The 900+ seed that I received from that supposed OH pumpkin that was on
display at the Zehner farm was a dud. never germinated! I've not tried
to contact them again regarding this pumpkin, it's grower (or a possible
weighoff) since the beginning of April, they never returned my many
calls...oh well.
