Re: Seed Size
No matter how hard we try and find the secret to seed selection their are
examples disproving our hunches. Perhaps the mystery is the magic. The
challenge.........I have seed from 500-600 pounders that are huge and seed
from some of the biggys 1000+ that are smaller by a long shot. IMHO seed
size doesn't mean much. Also size of the cotyledons, true leaf size and
early growth they all logically make us feel like big =big but those darn
AGs fool us all the time. It seems there is no rhyme or reason sometimes
other than the pumpkin grew and grew and grew and when most slow down the
monster didn't stop grew and grew and held together. Something lines up
genetically and signals a green light clear til October. In most plants
reproducing itself or seed is the mission. Once they accomplish this task
there done...........maybe instead of seed size we should look for traits
that take longer to mature seeds........................MB
