normal true leaves take care of things down the road?

Bill:
Last year I hade a few plants come up looking fine then the leaves curled and
went gnarly, for lack of a better word. Thought I had mutant plants, but
found out the true cause...termites had invaded the soil beneath these
seedlings and were coming to the surface just to partake on the small amount
of moist wood content of the compost I top dressed with. There were hundreds
of them.....so I drenched the soil and exposed them to light and my problem
was over. The plants grew up to be healthy and gorgeous.
I am not suggesting you have termites, but subterranean bugs can wreak havoc
with the roots, manifesting in leaf curling. Hold out and see what develops.
If you're really worried, plant some back ups.
