Greetings To All Pumpkineers!
Just a little update from my home in Ashland, Alabama...
Started following seeds on April 18:
879 Rockwell 98
728 Welty 98
682.4 Castellucci 96
622.6 Castellucci 98 (2 of these)
576 Castellucci 96
550 Barlow 98
420 Nepereny 98
Sad to say the 879, 728, 550 & 420 failed to germinate.
I did everything I know to do and still lost those. I don't
believe that changing the way I germinate will increase
my odds of success in getting them to sprout. It has
always worked, although sometimes, it just happens.
The 4 Castellucci's are in my 40' X 90' patch, set out
there on May 11.
On May 4 started the following plants for another patch at my
dear, sweet little wife's uncle's house (see, I am trying to do
better, honey):
654 Quat'Rouilles 97 (2 of these)
650 Reynolds 98 (2 of these)
598 Cramer 98
538 Welty 98
420 Nepereny 98
So far, so good on all of these. Not a one has failed to
germinate.
Also, started a 625 Kennedy 98 at work and I have never
before wittnessed a seed sprout so quickly or a plant that
has grown as fast as this one. These are good ones! Thanks
Wayne! Other than that it's ho-hum...life goes on...but I
have managed to turn a few folks on to growing Atlantic
Giant pumpkins. I can't wait to see their faces when these
babes start putting on the weight! Till next time, from here
in Ashland, Alabama...
Sincerely,
Scott Parsons
