1. Do I need to put black plastic where the pumpkins will be growing

2. I have heard that giving the plant milk helps it grow. Is this true
and how much milk would I give the plant?
3. At what time do I cut all the flowers off except one so all
nutrients go to one fruit? And which flower do I choose to keep?
Thank you for helping me out.

Tim,
#1 No.
#2 No.
#3 Set every good looking fruit you see, even on side vines. Don't be in
a big hurry to pick everything off. Many people have cut off everything to
soon then the one they were hoping for aborts and they are left with nothing.
Set 3 or 4. Let them get up to 50 pounds or even more. Take a good hard look
and eliminate them one at a time. It doesn't hurt to leave two on the plant
if they are on different branches, or opposite ends of the plant. Make note
of pollination date and count out 2 or 3 weeks and measure the fruit. Do the
same for the others and see which one grew the most inches in the same amount
of time. The first one set will be the biggest, but might not end up being
the fastest grower. Top growers don't use milk.....old wives tale.
