Fermenting seeds?

All,

When preparing tomato seeds for winter storage, the best
method is to "ferment" the pulp (seeds and all) in a glass.
After a week or two, simply wash the seeds and dry.

What results is a squeaky clean fuzzy seed (have you ever
seen a fuzzy seed from the commercial seed vendors? Didn't
think so!). These pop out of the soil very quickly when
planted. They also store extremely well.

Has anybody used this method with pumpkin seeds? I'm in
the process of trying it, but wanted to know if its already
been done or not.

One thing I've noticed already is that fermented pumpkin pulp
is a heck of a lot smellier than fermented tomatoes (which is
pretty bad itself).
