Spring surprise in NZ
I planted the pumpkins out yesterday in early summer sun, warm, composty
soil and a hope in my heart.
By 2pm there was a hailstorm, southerey winds and hard, very cold rain. I
maanged to get some buckets over the top of the plants and saved them from
the hail. I had to make up some cloches from old window frames and that may
do the trick. Southerley winds are forecast for the next three days. Such is
life.
Glenn - the seeds are coming up well with strong root growth.
Barb-I have given away two of yours to neighbours and the Newspaper editor
who is a co-sponsor of the Pumpkin Festival.
