Actually.......NO. This is not accurate.
All Atlantic Giants are botanically or scientifically squash.
The squash we talk about here refer to the color of the squash.....according
to the "governing organizations" if your Atlantic Giant fruit is more than
30--35% Orange,cream,yellow,red,or white it is called a "pumpkin". If your
fruit should happen to be more than 30-35% green,grey,blue,or mottled with
these colors then the current "governing organizations" will catagorize it as
a squash .
For some reason squash are not grown deliberately as often as pumpkins and
this seems to have hindered the maximum size of the worlds biggest squash.
There has yet to be an officially weighed,officially declared squash over
1000 lbs. (personally,I think there was a 1000lb+ squash but not judged to be
a squash ).
But Dale was right...its a color determination......................G
