List,
Been reading thru the recent post about trees and shade and such......I grow in town along side my house in a empty lot......for years I figured the shade problem that my house and my neighbors trees create would always be a huge limiting factor.....I get sun about 0:30 in the am as it finally clears my house and at about 2:00 PM..the patch is starting to get shaded and by 2:45 it is totally covering the plants....
HOWEVER this season I was able to obtain a new PB at 818.8#!!! something I thought never obtainable a few years back....Infact I lost afruit that was really smoking along in mid August that would have been better then this if things had held together....So I guess I am saying......big pumpkins can still be grown in limited sunlight ....I think you just have to maximize the things you can control ..like Soil....fert....moisture etc....
