RE: Bogus seeds

Garrell2 is David Garrell M.D. I actually bought seeds from him
advertised on eBay this spring and when I gave him a link showing pics
of the other seeds & descriptions I was growing this year, he really
wanted to try some of mine. So I had him PayPal me the amount I
sent/PayPal'ed him so that it was a wash, or even enough to be a "trade"
between us. Things got interesting when he said they were 792 x 682
seeds and nobody could find the cross. Below is an interesting link of
posts between myself and some of the BP members (some of which are
Mallorn members also) trying to figure out what the seeds were from, and
some of Garrell's e-mails pasted into the thread. These are his words in
the description of the ad:
"...derived from a cross between a 792 lb. pumpkin and a 682 lb.
pumpkin. The 792 produced the largest pumpkin ever grown in New England
(up to that time), a 914 lber. The 682 lber. had a very thick shell and
won the most beautiful giant pumpkin in 1996. The 682 has produced an
830 lber. and an 818 lber. The 682 was derived from a 567.5 lber, the
most prolific 700-900 pound producer of all time." (I wasn't a member of
the AGGA at the time so couldn't trace trees back then; still not sure
if Garrell or Langevin did the cross. Here's the BP link:

David Garrell won 2nd place this year at Durham CT with a 704 lber from
[reportedly] a 1009 Connolly x 1026 Holland cross. Here's that pic:

Just got in from 5-day vacation in Wilkes-Barre PA, didn't get to see
his current auction yet but will search & check eBay asap. (No, I wasn't
at Tony's collecting seeds.)

Once again bogus seeds are being sold on Ebay. A seller by the name of
garrell2 is currently selling seed that is supposed to be from our 1131.
Since the 1131 contained no mature seed, one could assume that most if
not all seed sold by this person is garbage!!!!
