Re: Shredding leaves

Chris First I remove all the old vines pile them in the middle of the patch
add a bunch of brush and set the pile on fire. Then I till the patch then
I add about 6-10 inches of leaves then I run the mower over them then I till
them in. Then I added more leaves mow them again till them in. The last
batch of leaves I just covered the patch with about two feet. I forgot to
mention I add about 2-3 inches of compost over the patch before I start to
add leaves.. Keys to adding that many leaves water them down good after
tilling add a cheap lawn fertilize or manure this will help the leaves break
down faster. Last spring there was about 3-4 inches of leaves that weren't
decomposed .just till once or twice a week by May they will be gone This
also helps to bring up the weeds and their seeds this helps during the
summer in your weeding. Hope this helps. mark
