On the Emmons plant with two pollinators, it would be
very interesting to know which male pollinator entered
first... that one might have got the best of it.
Also, assuming that the female flower's lobes coorespond
in physical location to the resulting seeds (which I
think they do) it might make an interesting experiment
to pollinate one half of the female, on JUST ONE SIDE
with one male and the other half, on the other side
with another male. Doing so could lead to some interesting
experiments on how much the female and the male actually
contribute to the resulting seed. Or, consider that you
may want more crosses than what you have space for, this
could get you an extra cross. (I realize there are a lot
of holes in this idea...) You may want to get your fine
surgical instruments out to do the pollination. And in
the resulting pumpkin you'd need to find the dividing line.
Or maybe your pumpkin just splits along the "dividing line". ;-)
