My point was not that one of the other did BETTER but that they produced
very DIFFERENT FRUIT. Obviously, although they came from the same
pumpkin, they did not have the same genetic potential.

Vince Zunino has said the same thing more intelligently and in greater
detail. 

Children from the same parents, whether punks or people, do not
necessarily have identical genes unless they are identical twins. One
can infer, I think, that the only PROVEN seeds have already been planted
... except that this will open another can of worms.

And I agree with you about competing for root space.
