Tom - I believe you've got it. You get the bragging
rights. Even individuals with identical genes show
subtle differences due to environmental factors which
play a role in shaping some characteristics.
Think of pumpkins as being as individually distinct as
people are. I come from a family of ten kids and not
one of them look like they came from the same family.
Maybe if someone would self an AG for four or five
generations they could get some of the variability out
of the gene mix. Then AG's from these selfed seeds
would show more uniform characteristics.
