Re: Drip or flood

Dennis,
I think a lot on how you water will depend on what type soil you have. If you have a sandy soil you can flood because of the drainage. If you have a loam or clay soil or a tight type of soil then you will have problems with it holding to much moisture. I have to much of a mixture of all soil types and I am afraid to flood, holding to much water in the soil without having good drainage, causing to many diseases.
I have been thinking about soaker hoses versus drip lines. I would like to hear from other growers on which they have used and had luck with and how they have set it up. I have used soaker hoses on my regular garden with very good success but I don't know how soaker hoses will work with pumpkins and watermelons. I am a new grower of pumpkins and I don't really know that much about growing them.
Thank You.
