Thanksgiving Harvest

Several storms shook our neck of the woods in the last week - cold and wet reminders that the growing season is over and santa's time is near.   So the day after thanksgiving, I went out to the patch and harvested the last of the pumpkins off Athena's child, the 789 Zunino plant.  I found eight immature pumpkins ranging between 50 and 125 pounds plus a half dozen smaller ones.

The plant looks like it is done now - not enough warmth left to drive the pumpkin juices.  The final tally on this plant's production is twenty pumpkins with a total combined weight of 3,700 pounds.  This doesn't count a least two dozen smaller culls.  Weights ranged from 50 to 450 pounds.

Anybody need a little 100 pound pumpkin or two??
