Auction for Barb..
Well folks, I was connected to Barb through personal emails as I am sure
most of you were also. I had a stop scheduled for her to visit my patch
back in 99, but she got held up in NY and didnt make it. She grew my 879
seed, as the G man has stated, and did more for the little guys on this
list than alot of us will ever know. Barb was what this list is all
about.. Info sharing, comraderie, friendship.. Tim Caniff, her, and I
used to sit and chat on ICQ about the daily ins and outs of pumpkin
growing, and I enjoyed those chats alot.
I will run the auction, as most of you know, I have dont this 2 years
running for the world's greatest pumpkin organization, the PGPGA, and I
have had great success in raising funds for a worthy cause. If I can get
about 15-20 good seed donations, I am sure I can raise a nice little
fund for Barb's granddaughter.. If you have seeds to donate, email me
privately, and I will create a webpage, and run a short auction sometime
in the middle of the week next week.
Anyone who has dealt with Barb over the years, and I can think back to
the Dan Gardner days of the list, knows that she loved this group, so
lets band together and show her family that we considered Barb a part of
our family here on the mallorn list too.
My email is at the top of this email, if you have a donation, whether
it be a seed donation, Langevin book, or tape measure, Holland Video, or
something worthy of an auction, drop me a short note saying you wish to
donate it to the cause. I will try to put somewhere between 10-20 items
up for auction. The actual auction with be held in the PGPGA chat room,
and I ask that if you stop to watch, bid, or chat, that you respect the
ongoings of the auction. The one I held this past February was amazing
how great everyone in the chatroom was at staying quiet during the
bidding.
I will accept possible bid items between now and Saturday, create the
page sunday, and hold the auction at a time and date to be determined
(next week sometime during the evening hours, 7 or 8 PM EST).
