I only wish I could leave my pumpkins out til Christmas. I though I was
going to this year when they made it through Halloween night, but low and
behold, Nov. 2 @ 1:00 a.m., six teenagers brough the remnants of bedposts,
along with a metal bar, and proceed to destroy over 800# of this year's
harvest. I hope thy have something to brag to their friends about.
As for seed extraction...they were all open pollinated, so, since I was so
upset, I just threw them all out without collecting a single seed. I only
hope the woman I sold my 289 to in New Jersey returns those seeds,
otherwise, I have none to give. The 289 seeds are the only successful hand
pollination I had this year anyway.

I would say anytime now--don't leave them too long in the pumpkin if you
want to save them all--2 years ago I left my pumpkins on the front porch
with the seasonal decor- throughout Christmas, the fruit was fine, but
when
I did finally cut them up and hauled them off to the compost, half the
seeds
inside had sprouted!
