Festival & Grower Seminar Update

Just a quick update, The South Saskatchewan Pumpkin Festival & International Weigh-off is a go for next year, Sept 27 & 28 2003 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan at the Exhibition Grounds.

Every one is climbing on board to take part and it is shaping up to be one of the largest weigh-offs in Western Canada.

Just to give you an idea, (which is still in the works) the Festival committee is considering a quote on insurance to offer a $100,000.00 prize to the first place pumpkin should it as well set the new world record. Very much the same as a hole-in-one for a golf tournament which will as well be done on the 28th.

Every one is welcome and we hope to see some of the northern US. state growers as well since the weigh-offs are a week before the GPC's.

This weigh-off will be run as an Independent site.

As well in March 2003 we are holding a Growers Seminar any one is welcome to attend. Dates are being finalized but will be held at the Temple Gardens Mineral Spa Resort.

Our Festival Website should be up by Feb 2003 and all the info you need will be posted there.

Finally any one wishing to donate seed to the seminar for new growers and as well as any one who attends. Please e-mail me at saskpumpkinfest@shaw.ca or giantveggies@shaw.ca we are in desperate need of seed to hand out.  Either pumpkin, squash or watermelon.

Thanks to everyone who has already committed to sending in seed or have sent them. It doesn't have to be premium seed or in great amounts if you can send two seeds it is welcome we will send a bubble pack plus postage for them...
