pumpkin haiku, too

Kathie,

You're getting me to do things I've never done
before! Here is my second and final entry...

Regards all, Cliff

pumpkin seed in earth
warmth ignites stored energy
break out of the shell!

cotelydrons stretch
seeking skies full of sunlight
first true leaf appears

tremendous leaves show
first six, then eight, then a vine
which way will it fall?

the vine seeks out room
across the patch it travels
growing without rest

loving hands nurture
a beautiful canopy
protect me from wind

we see flowers now
help nature do its duty
then stand back in awe

encouraged by sun
fruit expansion frightens all
who dare wander near

turning orange now
this fruit forms a final shape
a pumpkin indeed

cool winds from the north
will end this marvelous show
seasons come, and go
