Re: burrowing rodents

I've tried road flares, car exhaust, traps, vibrating/beeping devices, and water flushing of the tunnels.
What worked for me was water flushing of the tunnels.
Of course, I flushed for 24 hours straight, and after
this the water still did not back up, i.e. fill up
the channels. I also have clay soil! Haven't seen them
since, and its been about two years.

Someone told me that they avoid horse manure. I've
started working that into my soil also.

Poison is probably of dubious value, but it won't
hurt your pets if you use it strictly in the tunnels.
Get a piece of rebar and a sledgehammer or a large
rock. Find a mound, and then pound the rebar down about
18 inches from the center of the mound, all around the
mound until you find a tunnel. You'll know when you
find one, you'll be pounding and the rebar will hit
an open spot and drop rapidly for 4 to 6 inches.
Now you have a hole into their realm... just pour the
poison in. Your pets won't get it unless they are also
burrowing rodents.

Regards, Cliff
