852, 785 ,713 Sawtelle 2002 seed requests

Just wanted to post to the list that everyone who requested seeds from this
seasons pumpkins {852, 785, and 713 Sawtelle}, they are all just about ready
to roll out the door come Monday.

I did not get hardly any from the 713 {845 Bobier X 975 Gervais}, just
about 60 or so total, so there will be only one of those per packet, and
requests are first come, first serve with 1/2 of them already spoken for.
The 785 seeds have two super parent characteristics in their cross {1064
Needham X 712 Kuhn}. I have put 4 seeds in each packet, hopefully to tempt
someone into throwing one or two into the ground since I put in more than
the usual 2 seed amount. The 845 seeds {712 Kuhn X 975 Gervais} have three
per packet. Also in my "consultant patch" at Adam Eifflers, we grew two on
the 850.5 Hester and crossed it with the 1064 Needham. They weighed 371 and
465 in his poor soil. There are 3 seeds of his 465 also in the packets.

I also am sending out the seeds from the pumpkins grown on the plants
primarily grown for male pollinators, which still managed to produce
pumpkins despite the poor environment and soil I had to grow them in.
Crosses on these seeds are 1064 Needham X 1064 Needham { sib cross with male
coming from the 1064 which grew my 785 and 646 pumpkins} / 646 Sawtelle. X
563 Geerts { 646 = 1064 Holland X 563 Geerts... crossed back with it's
father...a clone off the 563 used to pollinate the 646}. The 975 Gervais
pollinating plant had a pumpkin I set fruit on in which hung over a railroad
tie raised area. The fruit was repositioned too much, as it had partially
developed seeds that stopped developing all the way, just like the fruit
did. I would have set more fruit on the plant had I known the pumpkin was
that badly damaged. Seeds from that plant were 975 Gervais X 712 Kuhn, and
there were a few which look like they are capable of sprouting, but unless
someone requests any of those seeds, I do not have enough to send out to
everyone.

I did not get back seeds from the pumpkin I sold to a Blackhawk Casino which
guaranteed to send back seeds after they were done displaying it. They will
not be able to purchase anything from me again, not even a field pumpkin.
Word of advice to growers who have never sold a pumpkin before: GET IT IN
WRITING THAT SEEDS ARE TO BE RETURNED! I was told they were interested in
purchasing one fruit each season, and were able to fulfill my request to
have seeds returned. That was one of the reasons I have never sold any of my
pumpkins before, I was afraid something like this would happen. The seed
cross on the 646 was exactly the same as the 785 {1064 Needham X 712 Kuhn},
so I am very bummed to not get them back.

Those are the seeds being sent to everyone who has already sent me a packet.
There are still a few more available, and some will be shipped out to Big
Pumpkins as well for the free seed offer they have going {except for the 713
seeds}. Those growers who wish to send me a packet and get the seeds
outlined here can send them to:

              Marc Sawtelle
        2126 E. Fountain Blvd.
         Colorado Springs, CO.
                  80910

I can be reached at 1-719-232-7690 as well... leave message if not
available.
