Brian,
Most growers do not till in any old pumpkins or vines 
because if by chance your pumpkin or plant had a disease
you will be compounding the problem by adding it back
in your soil.

Question,
I have to start planning for next year, soil prep, cover crop, ect... To
build-up Organic Compost:
1. Can you till in your old pumpkins, seeds and all?
2. What about these pumpkin patches or supermarkets that have left over
pumpkins?
3. By tilling them in the soil now, does it affect next growing season?
