Pumpkin Games

Pumpkin Bowling has been a big hit with kids in this county.
You need some pie pumpkins. Ours ranged from 17-24 inches in diameter.
We cut off the stems close to the fruit.
You need some ten pins. We bought plastic ones from Kmart since we
couldn't find any others, and we up-ended them and put about 8 ounces of
water in each, then sealed the hole with cork and candle wax. It worked!
At the county Harvest Fair, there was NO CHARGE to PLAY. There were also
NO PRIZES. And they had kids lined up 8-10 deep to roll the pumpkins
down the 'lane.'
At the church Harvest Fair, we gave a small toy (choice of squirt frogs,
small cars or fancy sunglasses) for knocking down 10 pins with a single
roll. All others received penny candy.
Each kid's scores were recorded on file cards, and at the end of each
hour a special prize was awarded the kid with the highest total for that
hour. That encouraged even the less talented bowlers to keep plunking
down their quarters to roll.
Vary this game according to your whims and the ages of the kids to be
entertained.
