storing pumkins to be carved in 11 days????

dear list,

I have three 100 pounders that I have been saving to carve for a client
open-house on the 13th. I will carve their company logo on them to be placed at the
entry way of their new building. I have had them stored in a cool garage on
and under tarps to keep them cool. As I checked on of them today, the bottom
had rotted through. #$^*$@!@&$%^@!!!!!!!!!

Should I clean out the remaining two? Will they preserve better without the
insides in them? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Do I need to try and find a
couple new pumpkins?

Thank you for any ideas,
